Submitting
City Directories
|
|
Does
your local library, society, or archives carry city directories? Or, do
you know of an online directory? You may find a directory that is not
available anywhere else in the world. That one directory may help solve
another researcher's problem. Let us add it to our database!
Submitting
directories is easy. All we need is the locality, specific year,
repository, and call number or URL.

Easy Steps:
- Download
the extraction form and example. Download in 3 different formats:
- Using
your word processor, complete the extraction form. You will identify
the following information:
a.
Locality: This could be a city/town/township, county, state, or
region. For example: Seattle, King, Washington. NOTE: One
directory may contain many localities. The Provo, Utah directory for
1930 also includes several communities in the area. Make sure you
identify these additional localities.
b.
Specific Year(s): Generally, this is one year, or a directory that covers
two years. For example: 1897 OR 1897/98.
c.
Repository: This is the library or archive in which the directory is
located. For example: Allen County Public Library OR Online.
d.
Call Number: For example: Fiche E 154.5 .C57x OR http://www.rootsweb.com/~casanfra/53menu.htm.

Earn
cash! We receive voluminous requests to photocopy a certain page
from a city directory. While we have researchers in many areas
throughout the country, we can't cover every repository. We need your
help. When we receive a request for a photocopy that we can't fulfill,
we'd like to employ your services. If you're interested in
participating at the repository for which you submitted information, please
contact us at submit@uscitydirectories.com.
